This is 1-on-1 coaching, not a course. We meet on Zoom for 90-minute working sessions
and build your tutoring business piece by piece — your niche, your prices, your
students, and eventually your team.
I grew up in China. In two years I took my English from barely-the-basics to near-native — not in a classroom, but by using it everywhere, for everything: conversations, negotiations, closing real deals with it. I didn't know what I wanted from a career yet. I just knew I loved learning new things and applying them in the real world.

The agency year
My first tutoring job was at an online agency, teaching Chinese adults business English and everyday spoken English. I loved the work. The pay? The agency took a large cut of everything my students paid. I spent a year there, learned the craft of teaching — and felt a growing itch that this couldn't be the whole story.

The leap
So I quit. No income, no safety net, no business skills — just the teaching skill I'd built. I threw myself at marketing, self-promotion, sales, closing. It took three months of trying, failing, and adjusting to land my first student that was entirely mine. No agency. No platform. No middleman.
With no one taking a cut, my income changed completely. But something more important happened: that year of making a living — not just surviving, but thriving — taught me how to sell, how to read a niche, how to price, and how to find students I genuinely enjoyed teaching.

From tutor to owner
I was still trading my hours for money, and I knew where that road ends. So a year later I got serious: registered a business license, learned advertising, started interviewing tutors, delegated my own sessions, trained new teachers to my standard, built a teaching management system, and standardized every procedure. I stopped working in the business and started working on it. That business still runs today — taught by a team, not by me.

The real product
Here's the part I didn't expect. Some tutors who joined me with nothing but language skills became managers and sales leads. Others grew into fully independent teachers, capable of walking out and building businesses of their own. We used to joke about it: I don't just run a tutoring company — I can manufacture what I learned, in other people.
Then one day the joke stopped being a joke. There are so many talented tutors stuck exactly where I was — capped hours, agency cuts, no business playbook — who want a better financial life and a better quality of life. That’s why TutorMax exists. Teaching English was the first thing I built. Helping tutors build businesses is the thing I was building toward.

How it works
From first call to first hire
Step 1
Free strategy call
30 minutes on Zoom. We map where you are, what's capping you, and whether coaching is the right move. No pressure either way.
Step 2
Your roadmap
In our first session we set the plan: your niche, your pricing, your next milestone — and what we'll build in each session after.
Step 3
90-minute working sessions
We don't just talk — we build. Your offer, your outreach, your discovery-call script, your hiring funnel. You leave every call with homework that pays.
Step 4
Support between calls
Stuck on a price negotiation Tuesday night? Email me. On The Build, send a voice message and I'll talk you through it.
This is for you if…
You're an independent tutor with a full calendar and a capped income
You work at an agency and want out — with a plan, not a prayer
You can teach, but marketing, sales, and pricing feel foreign
You're willing to do the uncomfortable work between sessions
…and not for you if
You're looking for teaching methodology training — this is business coaching
You want overnight results without changing how you work
You're happy with tutoring as a hobby — that's genuinely fine, you don't need this
Practical questions
How do payments work?
Right here on this page. Pick your program, press the PayPal button, and you pay the full fee up front in USD through PayPal's secure checkout. PayPal handles the card or balance details; I never see them. Once your payment clears I email you to confirm your start date and get your first session on the calendar.
What about timezones?
Booking runs through Calendly: you see my availability in your local time, pick a slot, and the Zoom link arrives automatically. I work with tutors across timezones — we’ll find a rhythm that works.
Do I need to already have students?
No. Some tutors come to me with zero independent students and a job at an agency; others have a full solo calendar and want to build a team. The roadmap starts wherever you are.
What happens on the strategy call?
We talk about your current situation, your goals, and the honest gap between them. You'll leave with at least one concrete next step — whether or not you buy anything. If I don't think coaching will help you, I'll say so.
The first call costs nothing — except the excuse.
30 minutes, your timezone, Zoom link sent automatically. Come with questions; leave
with a next step.
